Bandwagon
A technique used to persuade people to do something by letting them know that others are doing it.
Name Calling
A technique that smears or damages the opponent that cripples their image. (This techniques is mostly used in politics.)
Stereotype
A technique that makes use of a biased belief about a whole group of people based on insufficient or irrelevant information.
Loaded Words
A technique that makes use of words that have big and vague connotation. (For example, new, best and improved.)
Emotional Appeal
A technique used to arouse emotional reactions within people, which inspires them to follow along.
Card Stacking
A technique that uses statistics that are misused or statistics that are based on a falsehood.
Testimonial
A technique that makes use of quotations or endorsements which connect a famous or respectable person with a product or item (or person).
Glittering Generality
A technique that makes use of virtue words and words with positive connotation to inspire a positive feeling in the audience, even though the words are vague.
Transfer
A technique that makes use of the transfer of emotions (whether it is positive or negative) to another object to make the audience feel the same way about the object as the thing they are comparing it to.
Plain Folks
A technique used to show that the famous people and leaders we see on TV are just common people to relate with the audience.
