transfer
This advertisement is created by the Record Industry Association of America and was created in order to discourage pirating music. The advertisement/propaganda uses the transfer technique to transfer the negative feelings of Communism and the Devil to the act of pirating music. It says in bright red letters (which usually indicates negative things) “When you pirate MP3s, you’re downloading Communism.” Among these words, “Communism” is in bigger letters to highlight it. Then to emphasize the fact that pirating was not a good thing to do, and also the fact that Communism is equally evil, there is a picture of the devil in Soviet Union uniform. Furthermore, the sickle and the hammer, which symbolizes communism is presented next to these words. The transfer of emotions from the devil to communism and communism to the pirating of music makes it a perfect example of the propaganda technique called transfer.
